MICHELIN ASSISTS LOGGERHEADS FIRST RESPONDERS

Ashley and Loggerheads Community First Responders said a big thank-you to tyre manufacturer Michelin recently after receiving a set of free tyres for their emergency response vehicle. The local First Responders are a voluntary organisation that acts as a rapid response unit to local 999 calls via the Staffs Ambulance Service. The volunteers are medically trained to respond quickly in this area to preserve life prior to the arrival of the ambulance. The Group depends on the generous and continued support of its local community and the volunteers aim to provide a 24 hour response. The vehicle and its running costs are met by fund-raising events, sponsorship and donations, so the offer of a set of Michelin Latitude Tour HP tyres for the winter was well received ! Michelin’s spokesperson, Catherine Creedon stated “Michelin is always keen to support local projects, and on this occasion we had direct links with the scheme via local dealer Mary Worman at Stone who is herself a First Responder, so we were delighted to help out”

Two highly successful evenings collecting door to door in the local area raised £864 when Eccleshall and Etruria Rotary Clubs brought round Santa over the Christmas period. The Eccleshall Club meets every Monday evening with a meal and guest speaker, and this year’s Santa Sleigh raised altogether £3600 which is going to benefit the First Responders, the Katherine House Hospice, and the Rotary Foundation.

What’s special about February 22nd?

It’s World Thinking Day

Girl Guides and Girl Scouts all over the world think about their peers in other parts of the World, pledge to be friends, and to understand each other. The Girl Guides (founded in 1910), is a worldwide movement and in the UK more than half the female population has at some time been a member of the Movement. 25% of all 8 year old girls are currently Brownies and 1 in 10 girls aged between 5 and 7 are Rainbow members.

Locally, Market Drayton Guides are holding their Thinking Day Service at St Leonard’s Church, Woore on 24th February, 2pm followed by Refreshments, all former members are welcome.
An Exhibition “ Past and Present Guiding” is soon to be held and if you have any past uniforms for loan for the exhibition please contact Debbie Bray on 01630 647981 or if you are interested in any aspect of Guiding contact Janet Vaughan,
District Commissioner, on 01630 673291

The Village Choir – ASHLEY VOICE & MUSIC have been in great demand over the Christmas period, with local concerts at Broughton Parish Room in aid of Save the Children (the collection here raised a magnificent £360!) at Alton by Stone, and at the Ashley Methodist Church for the traditional Christmas Carol concert. Voices and Music also performed at Attingham Park, Shrewsbury in a seasonal concert which was very well received.

New Singers are always welcome! Singing is a relaxing and enjoyable activity and a cure for many stresses and sorrows, so if you are interested in joining or booking the Choir for an event contact Elizabeth on 01630 672546
