LOCAL FOOTBALL ANNIVERSARY RAISES £1,000 FOR CHARITY
Loggerheads FC members were looking for a way to celebrate their golden jubilee year and hit on a plan to raise money for a charity with a sponsored match between current players and veterans plus a social evening.
The results far exceeded their expectations. With the match sponsored by Phil Wade of ‘Randles Suzuki’ Garage in Newcastle, generous contributions from local people to a football memorabilia auction (including a Wayne Rooney signed shirt), the support of the Loggerheads Hotel and the appearance of Stoke City legend Denis Smith they raised the sum of £1,000.
Donna Louise Trust representative, Chris Belyavon received the cheque and gave players and officials a small tour of the hospice and a talk about the work done by the Trust and the costs in maintaining it.
A special thanks to Denis Smith for making the day such a big success and one that we will all remember.
