My Dear Friends,
This year marks the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the birth of the esteemed Miss Jane Austen. In honour of such an occasion, pray, set aside the evening of Friday, the 12th of December, for there is to be a most diverting evening of Regency dancing at Ponsanooth Hall.
We shall endeavour both the graceful and the most spirited of dances, with merriment enough to warm the chilliest December night. Pray do not be alarmed no prior knowledge of the dances shall be required, for I shall undertake the role of caller and guide. The figures themselves are cousins, in some respects, to the lively ceilidh, and thus both familiar and fresh. Dancing will be to recorded music.
As for attire, whilst authentic costume is by no means a necessity, I dare say a little finery or even a playful nod to the fashions of the age would lend an extra sparkle to the proceedings.
Further details will be dispatched in due time, but for the present I entreat you save the date, book your tickets and prepare your dancing shoes (please no stilettos, to preserve the beautiful wooden floor and your beautiful feet)
With every good wish for your attendance,
Kate

Tickets: £10 + £1 booking fee (via Ticket Tailor – https://buytickets.at/ceilidhcornwall/1892848)
Doors open: 19:30
Dancing from 20:00 – 22:30 with an interval for refreshments.
Non-alcoholic drinks and light snacks will be provided during the interval. There will be no bar, so if you fancy something a little stronger, do please bring it along.
Limited parking is available beside the hall, but you may park on the street behind (Commercial Hill) and take a footpath to the hall. If you are able to share cars (or carriages, indeed) that might be convenient. The U2 bus runs between Falmouth, Truro and Ponsanooth before the dancing. The U1 bus operates after the dancing, but from Perranwell (about a 20 minute walk). Perhaps a bus there and a taxi back?
